For high quality cashmere, long, uniform fibres are used - unlike cheaper cashmere which is often produced from unsorted, mixed cashmere with short fibres and varying quality.
Cashmere is a strong, wash durable fibre. The more you wash your cashmere, the softer it gets. If you're knitting a shawl to give as a present - then wash it before giving it away.
Have attention on that our cashmere yarns are already carefully washed befor we put them on balls. During the washing proces we loose 10-12% of the weight. The washing proces also give space for a lot of air in the yarn = volume. If we not washed the yarns, we could offer the yarn minimum 12% cheaper. But we prefer to give you the best yarn with a lot of volume. In the end you will have a better result and use less ball/yarn for your project.
