Gepard Laine Waterlily Cardigan D
Waterlily is Sus Gepard's contribution to the eight edition of the Finnish knitting magazine Laine Magazine. A very classical cardigan with a round yoke ... and then again! While yoked cardigans and sweaters can sometimes get a somewhat heavy fit around the chest and shoulders, Sus' design is the result of extensive experiments with short rows on the back. The finished result has lighter and neater look with a slightly upward-sweeping fit. The short rows also makes the cardigan lie beautifully flat to the nape of the neck without breaking the gorgeous pattern of mohair flowers. The flowers are worked by slipping the mohair yarn through a grid of lace-worked eyelets. The result is a floral fan which has of course inspired the naming of the cardigan.
Waterlily as seen in Laine 8 is knitted using Gepard Wild WoolSilk which lends a beautiful, silky lustre to the finished work. The design, however, is equally gorgeous when using the wool-alpaca-blend Pura Lana – see images for examples. The yardage is unchanged, and if you do not find your preferred colour combo among our suggestions, you can see the yarn requirements in the tab yardage and sizes and make your own gorgeous combination.
