Opal is brand of sock yarn created by the German TUTTO group.
TUTTO has specialised making yarn with the colours of art works. They started this practice using the works of painter and graphic designer Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and since this beginning, other themes have been added to the portfolio.
Every year they let themselves be inspired by the animals of the rain forest to create a collection where part of the profits is donated to rain forest conservation groups. You can read more about this project at www.sockenwolle.de or on the product pages of the Regenwald-yarns.
Opal is available as 4-ply for needles 2.5-3mm, but also as 6-ply (needles 3.5-4mm) and 8-ply (needles 4.5-5mm)
The yarn is not just for socks – it’s great for sweaters too! If knitting sweaters, use needles 3-4mm for the regular 4-ply.
The Opal sock yarn is soft and durable. Use it for knitting socks but also for knitting sweaters and shawls. The 3-treaded sock yarn is suitable for needle 3mm.
The Hundertwasser and the monocolor collection (called Uni) can be reordered, but all other collections are unique collections that are not reproduced.
The unique collections are only produced in a limited amount and only produced once, therefore we ask that you pre-order, so we know how much to order from Opal.
